65-45-12 Ductile Iron

Comparable to low-alloy steel in many respects, 65-45-12 iron is characterized by its ferritic and pearlitic microstructure. This means it contains nodular graphite within a matrix of ferrite as well as containing trace amounts of pearlite. Thanks in large part to these qualities, this form of ductile iron is one of the most machinable. In addition, it also offers strong impact resistance, good electrical conductivity, high magnetic permeability and acceptable surface finishes for a wide range of uses.
