High Silicon Molybdenum Ductile Iron

This is a variation of spheroid graphite cast iron that contains higher amounts of silicon and molybdenum. This gives it a much higher resistance to heat and thermal cycling when compared to other alloys. The high silicon content also helps this form of iron resist corrosion when exposed to harsher environments.

The exceptional thermal properties and corrosion resistance of HiSiMo ductile iron make it ideally suited for a wide range of components for high-performance applications. Many engine parts such as turbochargers, heat exchangers, and exhaust manifolds are cast using this metal, thanks to its ability to withstand frequent fluctuations in temperature. Marine manufacturers also choose this alloy for engine components because of the higher resistance to corrosion it provides.
